The Australian Professional Technical Analysts (APTA) Inc, founded in 2004, is a not-for-profit organisation of Technical Analysts participating in the financial services industry.

APTA facilitates the exchange of ideas in Technical Analysis and Financial Markets and encourages members to aspire to the highest level of professionalism in our discipline. We bring together accomplished professional and non-professional financial markets Technical Analysts to engage in networking and thought-provoking meetings.

APTA also strongly encourages the education of participants in the financial services industry and the application of technical research in the formulation of investment and trading decisions.

APTA has two main categories of membership: Associate and Professional

Associate membership is open to any person who has an identifiable interest in Technical Analysis and has a desire to advance their skills within the discipline whilst Professional membership is open to any person who sources a significant proportion of their income from the application of Technical Analysis.

Professional membership entry requirements are rigorous, ensuring that members are proficient and set the highest standards of practice and ethics.  Our members have roles in the financial services industry as analysts, advisors, traders and money managers.

Meetings are held bi-monthly in the central business district.

Former FINSIA Fin231 and E171 TA Student Alex Spiroglou Elected Chair of the MTA London Chapter

In the past few years an increasing number of technicians based in Britain, have joined the Market Technicians Association (www.MTA.org). The numbers eventually grew to such a large size, that the demand for a local presence emerged. The formation of the London Chapter of the MTA was announced last month and Alex Spriglou was appointed Chair of the London Chapter.

Strategic Partner

The Market Technicians Association (MTA)

In September 2011, APTA entered into a strategic partnership with the MTA.

As a result, the MTA's Australian based members will receive honorary APTA membership and be entitled to all APTA member benefits including attending APTA meetings, luncheons, conferences and other networking events.

APTA members will have access to the MTA's extensive knowledge base, weekly educational webcasts, podcasts and archives of these events.

The MTA is a not-for-profit professional regulatory organisation servicing over 4,000 market analysis professionals in over 75 countries around the globe. The MTA’s main objectives involve the education of the public, the investment community and its membership in the theory, practice and application of technical analysis.

The MTA's aims are synonymous with APTA's and are accomplished through the effective execution of a wide variety of professional services including, but not limited to, seminars, local Region/Chapter/Strategic Partner meetings, the maintenance of an extensive library of technical analysis material and the regular publication of Newsletters and Journals.

MTA members and affiliates include technical analysts, portfolio managers, investment advisors, market letter writers and others involved in the technical aspects of equities, futures, options, fixed income securities, currencies, international markets, derivatives, etc.
