Speaker: Will Slatyer

Topic: Conservative But Profitable Trading
Biography: Will Slatyer has been analysing international markets since 1965, initially commodities and foreign exchange, then interest rates and stock markets. He has experience as a commodities merchant, futures broker, merchant banker and market risk consultant. A founding member of the Australian Technical Analysts Association (ATAA), Will has made technical analysis presentations throughout Australia, and has lectured on risk management in the USA, Japan, New Zealand, Indonesia and Malaysia. He is the author of six books, the most recent of which is “Debt Delusion as an EBook in 2008. “The Speculative Strategist” was published by McGraw-Hill, New York in 1996. Mr Slatyer is now retired, mainly researching climatic/cultural cycles, and trading systems as a member of the APTA.
In his many years in the markets Will Slatyer has investigated most avenues of technical analysis, but most recently has concentrated on refining the application of trend-following techniques to produce a sound universal method of trading, both to counter market risk, and to allow profitable strategic speculation. His philosophy is that unrestrained capitalism is a socially acceptable form of warfare, in which money flows instead of blood. His techniques follow many principles from Sun Tsu’s “Art of War”. Forecasting can be of use to policy and strategy, but only strategic trading signals are truly predictable in the active volatile markets of the twenty-first century.
